Installing HA OS on a PC

the Dell Optiplex i bought has win 10 OS on it. Instead of going thru all of the flash drive stuff, cant i just make a partition of say 30 Gigs, install HA OS in that partition then blow out Win OS? Only asking because the biggest flash drive i have is 8 Gig and HA OS is over 20 G at this time

Depending on the version of Optiplex you have ….Alternative to consider: Install Proxmox (remove Win completely) - flash drive should be more than enough for that, then once you have proxmox, add HA as VM - no flash drive needed at that point.

You only need a usb disk big enough for a Bootable Debian.

Boot to Debian trial from the stick, download the x86-64 image from the install site and use Disks to restore the image to the system disk. I just installed like this on a NUC this weekend and it took less than 20 minutes with a decent internet connection

Option 2 load a hypervisor like Proxmox as mentioned above.

In case you missed it, installing Proxmox is highly recommended

You only need a 4 Gb drive according to the docs:
