Installing HA supervised on Debian 12?

Hi guys, I am trying to install HA Supervised on Debian 12, I’ve found guides dated 2020 and 2023… I am getting many errors.
So I spent all the afternoon on chatgpt and deepseek installing HA on docker, and my debian has crashed.
Any updated guide?
Thanks.

Ok, sorry, I am going crazy…

  • Debian 12
  • I need add-ons (so HA supervisioned)
  • I need docker

Still fighting due I can’t still correctly install HA:

  • if add-ons available, I get network issues (I am using modbus, no errors on logs but no entities available and no reading requests detected on modbus devices)
  • other installations give me add-ons not available.

Look for newer guides on this forum.

Why?

Is the host computer dedicated to Home Assistant? Then just install HAOS bare-metal.

If you plan to run other unrelated stuff on the host computer, like Mario Brothers, then you need a container or virtual OS. Neither of which I need nor use. The reason you see so many different methods is because there are so many options available. ProxMox seems to be the current favorite.

Jason’s guide from 2023 is still valid and perfectly working. Just make sure you follow the steps by the book as “cherry picking” some steps out of the guide or leaving out some instructions or changing others might lead to errors.
