System boots up ok however HAOS installation gets stuck at USB and does not progress - see image below. This guy in FB seems to be having the same issue (Home Assistant | Hey guys I installed HAOS, but when I boot it it hangs here... | Facebook), but with no solution provided. A commenter suggested disabling the fingerprint sensor; I did that on mine (disconnected the flat cable, no BIOS option for that) but did not change anything for me.
being “old school”, it didn’t occur to me to ask the current oracle (chatgpt) what it could make of it.
In summary, the unsolvable issue for a pure HAOS install is that my hardware is incompatible, the key issue being the USB hub. A potential workaround for the hardware issue would be to install Debian and then the Supervised version.
My personal solution was to move the same SSD to a slightly older HP laptop and hope that it was compatible… and it was! I now have a HAOS intall on a laptop.
The USB ports on any Linux may run into a issue with accessibility high jacking (driver conflict issue) the USB ports. I had to remove the accessibility drivers on my laptop so I could plug into any console port using terminal program. I question is that driver part of the dependencies in HAOS? I know that it is in Ubuntu and Debian.
