Installing Home Assistant OS using Proxmox 8

Yes, you simply call service hassio.host_shutdown from within an automation or script.

Just installed proxmox on my first mini-PC. When I try and use tteck’s script in section 2.1, nothing seems to happen.

I open Shell on the proxmox server, paste the script, hit enter and nothing happens. I can see in videos that people are met with a different screen inside the shel terminal and are asked a bunch of questions. Mine just sits like this:

What am I doing wrong?

Running proxmox 8.1.

It seems that you’re facing a network problem, probably linked to DNS.

When installing I did just leave the DNS set to default. Wasn’t sure what to put in there. I’ve done a very cursory bit of reasearch to find my DNS server, and seem to have it. Can I update it through the remote proxmox interface?

Ok, I found it, updated. All working now. Thanks very much!!

How is this process done as Im struggling to get it to work or run following this video!

Guide to installing Home Assistant on Proxmox

I have had to remove it on two attempts to get it to work!

Is there anywhere link or anything writen up to do it as well as a video that you know of.

I’m not sure to use the R2 or use the Raspberry Pi5 quite yet.

Hi Nick  you mention you are running VM of HAOS from a script Here. But where is that scripts link? And any advice on how wI get in all installed onto a Ikoolcore running Proxmox Virtual Environment 8.1.5

The script has been working without any problem. Home Assistant is running great!

The only “problem” I have is that the memory usage that is shown in Proxmox seems to be really great:
memory

In HA itself it is no so high:

I read somewhere else that the swap will be added by Proxmox, but how can this be “fixed”?

There’s nothing to fix. It’s just the way proxmox deals with excess ram.

Just learn to ignore it and move on.

:+1:
I will try to do it!

Good you got it working!

Since you are blurring your local/LAN IP address (which quite a lot of people are using as well on their private network), you might want to have a look at this review for some inspiration, if you haven’t already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7gjnOmRumc

Thank you will take a look at it! Lewis video’s are great to getting clues on setup!

I’m tring to figure how I get my ZHA back working now and also trying to figure out how to get my Cloudflare Url my https://private.u.k to run in this Proxmox Home Assitant setup.

Has none of my automations are working yet without zha

Hey back again, haven’t had time to experiment with the change until today. But i switched my DNS as a couple people recommended. i switched from my ISPs default to cloud flares and im still getting the same error.

not sure if its a DNS issue

After doing all the process, home assistant has started, but I cant access. Cant ping, too. I’m out of Ideas.

Hi Victor, make sure that your browser is not using/switching to httpS automatically.

it is not, unfortunately. Can’t ping from command line from HAOS neither to it. I’m troubleshooting proxmox, now. I’m new to it.

edit: found the source of the problem. VirtualBox network adapter was configured to “refuse” the promiscuous mode (at least that’s how it is written in Portuguese).

This guide was super helpful. I’m brand new and everything was seamless.

There was only one thing I was confused about. I didn’t understand how to do Bluetooth pass-through. The other guides assume you have a discrete USB bluetooth device. But I didn’t want to use a USB Bluetooth device. My mini-PC came equipped with an Intel 9402NGW E-Key WiFi and Bluetooth card and I wanted to use it. Thankfully this is still possible.

Here’s what I learned:
If your using an M.2 E-Key Bluetooth device, then you still want to do USB pass-through (most likely). The E-Key M.2 interface includes traces for USB. So you’ll want to look for your bluetooth device by running lsusb. In my case, I did usb pass through with ID 8087:0aaa Intel Corp. Bluetooth 9460/9560 Jefferson Peak (JfP)

Overall I got Bluetooth integrated with my VM using USB pass-through. It’s working great.
