But you have a connection? Does ping security.debian.org work?

ngocdung@Linix:~$ ping security.debian.org
ping: security.debian.org: Temporary failure in name resolution
ngocdung@Linix:~$ ping google.com
ping: google.com: Temporary failure in name resolution

See, you have a network problem. DNS name resolution or so.
Is your network config okay?
Permanent IP address or DHCP? Whatā€™s your DNS?

I will be off for a while, check out this too:

Could you solve the problem?

Hi,

I test it on my new machine and so far no luck in not making NetworkManager replace my new resolv.conf. It works however, resolv.conf is not 100% right since it shows a double nameserver. Maybe anyone has the same issue and knows how to fix this?

At the moment I remove the link of resolv.conf and replace it with resolv.conf of the original installation.

Upon HA running the ping become very slow and intermittent (unsure what I did wrong) maybe someone can give some light? I also did /etc/systemd/resolved.conf as suggested by @SkynetNexus which solve the internet access problem.

At this point however HA running in the background

My next hurdle is restoring a backup, in my case upon restoring a full backup, the screen goes back to the register and nothing seems to be restoring. Iā€™m not sure whether Iā€™m expecting a fast response or if I should wait 20 minutes.

This is off topic, but nevertheless: wait. Restoring takes a long long time

Have you checked my post here?

Revert the changes suggested by SkynetNexus and try the possible solution I provided.

Yeah I didā€¦ changing that did not work at all and I canā€™t ping out from my VM

Why are you running this as a VM?

Unfortunately you did not strictly follow this guide.

My current machine Proxmox runs Debian 12 Bookworm ā† VM, so you are telling me this canā€™t run supervised? Am I lost somewhere?

which part of the guide? Iā€™m running Debian 12 on proxmox which running i7 intel. r u saying this will not be able to run supervised?

This guide is not for Proxmox.

Secondly, why would you run a Debian VM and then install Supervised when you can much more easily run a HA OS VM?

This guide is for installing Home Assistant Supervised using Debian 12 on a bare metal machine but not for running HA Supervised on Proxmox.

A little search would have brought you to i.e.

and so many moreā€¦

Well, running supervised version on proxmox give u more in terms of going into the machine, unlike HAOS. Which on Debian 11 have no problem.

For what purpose though?

The point of running a Hypervisor like Proxmox is that you can deploy multiple CTs or VMs making it unnecessary ā€œgo into the machineā€.

I must admit I do this too on a dev machine. Yes I hate HAOS that much and like to run bash scripts etc and non approved docker containers.

I do the same on my test machine, but as a daily driver there is absolutely no need to run Supervised in a VM if you are using Proxmox. Itā€™s completely redundant.

For someone like yourself @DavidFW1960 who knows their way around these sorts of things itā€™s not an issue, but adding extra layers into a system for someone who doesnā€™t have the skill set or knowledge around how to solve issues just isnā€™t necessary.

Iā€™ve been using HA OS myself for a number of years in a Proxmox VM and just run CTs and VMs for anything else, keeps things nice and simple.
