Installing Sonoff dongle for Thread

Hi everyone, I’m new to HA so please be gentle!

I installed HA inside a virtual machine on my QNAP NAS. I then purchased a Sonoff ZBDongle-E and flashed to Multi-PAN firmware as I hope to add Thread capability to my setup, using the method here:

I plugged my newly flashed dongle into my NAS, fired up the HA virtual machine, and saw the option to add the dongle as a new device. However, when trying to add the dongle, HA spits an error:

“Your device is running the wrong firmware and cannot be used with ZHA until the correct firmware is installed. A repair has been created with more information and instructions for how to fix this.”

When I click the link to the repair, it opens up a new page which says:
“There are currently no repairs pending”

Am I being gaslit by HA lol? How do I fix this to get the dongle running with Thread?

Found the answer. Posting here if anyone needs this info in the future:

  1. Installed OpenThread Border Router Add-On

  2. After installation, went to the configuration tab and clicked on the Sonoff USB dongle, turned OFF hardware control, clicked save, then start

  3. Went to Settings - Devices and Services - Thread - Configure - made my existing thread network the “preferred network” by following these instructions:
    Thread - Home Assistant

  4. Now added matter over thread devices with these instructions:
    Matter (BETA) - Home Assistant
