From HA 2025.1, a backup system is available natively.
I think it would be great if Home Assistant could automatically suggest creating a folder on the Synology to store the backup.
As of today, I’ve added a network storage, but I’m not sure if it’s user-friendly enough to someone without IT skills
I am using Synology for backup since forever. I have made a special share and user just for HA. In order for HA to acces Synology it needs that user. With that user it can read shares and NOT create a share. Folders are not good as folders are contained in shares. How do you feel about the fixed backup hour 4:45? I have my NAS’s set to sleep at night, always doing backup before sleep. This forced backup hour is useless in my case. I will stick with my older automation.
This can be closed IMHO as it was added in 2025.2
it was added but as a newbie it just says backup failed, look for log file:smiley:
log file says nothing, and I have no idea how to setup DSM for backup.
I see Synology DSM in backup settings but I can only setup the encryption but not the place I want to put it.
