Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on integrating smart LED mirrors into Home Assistant and wanted to share some insights while learning from your experience.
Why Smart Mirrors in Home Automation?
Bathrooms and dressing areas are often overlooked in IoT setups, but adding LED mirrors brings:
- Better lighting control for makeup and grooming
- Defogging automation in humid environments
- Enhanced energy savings with smart triggers
Features We’ve Implemented:
Wi-Fi + BLE connectivity (Matter-ready for future integration)
Voice Control: Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant
HA Integration: MQTT-based controls for dimming, lighting, and defogger
Auto-Off Scenes: Save energy when the bathroom is unoccupied
Challenges & Open Questions:
- Linking defogger control with HA scenes and humidity sensors
- Best practices for OTA updates within HA
- Syncing voice commands with HA automations
Here’s an example of how it works:
- “Alexa, set bathroom mirror to makeup mode” → Bright warm light, defogger ON
- HA scene trigger when humidity > 80% → Defogger ON, mirror light ON
Has anyone tried similar setups?
Would you prefer controlling mirrors via HA scenes, voice commands, or sensor triggers?
Happy to share:
- Wiring diagrams
- YAML configurations
- API documentation for integration
(Our team specializes in LED mirrors for hospitality and residential projects, so we can also share real-world installation experience.)
Looking forward to your ideas!
