Integrating Zigbee Devices using the somfy Tahoma Hbu

Hi guys, I need to automate my Somy io blinds and think of investing in a Somy Tahoma Hub. The new generation supposedly can integrate Zigbee devices such as Lights and Hue Light sensors.
Does any body have any experience if this actually works with the Home Assistant integration?
If so I could do away with my deconz integration running on a raspberry pie. If not, I would have to accept another hub in our appartment.
Any reports with experiences would be most appreciated
Cheers Rainer

Better to ask in third-party integration forum because such integrations abstract all devices and use thier own API so as far as Home Assistant it is not talking with Zigbee devices, is it only talking to Somfy Tahoma Third party integrations - Home Assistant Community

Where do you run Home Assistant? Why not just buy a cheap Zigbee stick and plug this in your Home Assistant installation? This will be way more reliable than trusting on the Overkiz cloud.

If I am not mistaken, you still need a Hue hub if you want to integrate with the TaHoma ecosystem. Some other Zigbee devices are supported by the TaHoma hub directly.

We deliberately decided to not support Zigbee and ZWave devices in the HA Overkiz integration, since they are supported locally in a better way via Home Assistant. Some users mentioned that their Zigbee/ZWave devices do work in the Home Assistant integration though, but we don’t have a list of this. Technically we don’t look at the protocol of the device, but only at the device characteristics, so there is a chance that simple devices like a light are supported.

Hi Mick, good morning.

I think I found a solution that works for me. But here are the answers to your questions:
My HA runs in a docker container on a NAS. Putting a Zigbee USB there would not make much sense since the NAS is hidden in my office, difficult to be reached via radio waves.

I have a raspberry pie in the middle of the flat fitted with a Raspbee Chip controlling all my Zigbee devices.

My aim is to control the Somfy IO blinds. Since the Tahoma can control Zigbee devices I wanted to find out if I subsequently can eliminate one hub, in this case the raspberry pie and control the devices via the integration for the TAHOMA.

Here is my solution that should work:
Instead of Tahoma I now intend to use a Somfy IZIMO transmitter. That triggers my io blinds, when S1 and com or S2 and com are connected. Instead of connecting a shutter switch to the input S1, Com and S2, I connect them to a Shelly 2.5. I run a lot of Shellies already so that is no hustle.

Problem solved and done. And much better: No Somfy cloud space involved, no detour via the Internet and even so a lot cheaper that the TAHOMA

Have a good Sunday and thanks for the support

Cheers

Rainer

Sorry guys, back to the drawing board. The shelly 2.5 cannot be used for this application. The switched contacs are not potential free. Therefor the solution will be to use two Shelly one instead. That should work.

Sorry for the misleading information

You only lose the benefit of retrieving the current state information. Since Somfy IO is a closed protocol, that won’t be possible without a hub. The main benefit of IO over RTS is to have accurate state information (percentage of open/close) and also being able to set the cover to a percentage.

With Shelly, you will only have open/close and no current state information.
