Integrating Zigbee with AusNet Smart Meter

Hi all,

I’m trying to integrate my Zigbee setup with my Australian AusNet Smart Meter which supports Zigbee. They have a website whereby you can register your Zigbee details, and they will instruct the Smart Meter to connect to your Zigbee network.

Current setup:

  • Home Assistant OS running Zigbee2MQTT
  • Raspberry Pi 4
  • SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-P

My issue is this final step whereby I get to the details where I have to register my Zigbee network:

I know that the Mac Address is 1. Open the frontend, go to “Settings” → “About” → “Coordinator IEEE Address”

But I do not know what my HAN Device Install Code is. Is this something that is accessed via software? Where would I find this?

Thanks in advance for your help. Much appreciated!

The first hit on Google if I type “Zigbee2MQTT device install code” is this Bosch RFPR-ZB-SH-EU control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT

“To pair this device you have to install the device via its installation code. The installation code can be obtained by scanning the QR-code on the inside of the battery cover with your smartphone.”

Do you have a QR code on your smart meter?

I’m not sure about your provider, however all the smart meter zigbee setups I have seen require a isolated zigbee network. The smart meter is a coordinator and your SEP device or devices are zigbee end devices to this coordinator. They encrypt the data this way so that not anyone can monitor your smart meter. You then have to figure out if your SEP device has any kind of API or interface that will allow it to share out the energy data that is coming from the smart meter.

Good hunting!
