Integration with Airco/Inverter units, what to choose?

I’m planning to to buy an airco/inverter units to cool (and heat) my house. I would like to have proper integration into home assistant. I do not want it to be hacky, it should be reliable (wifi, wired, serial, modbus integration would be ok) and I’m sure it would be fun if someone besides me could control it. Also, non-cloud control would be nice.

Instead of making the wrong choice and consequently spending way too many hours getting stuff to work, I thought it might be wise to hear your advise on this.

So, what would be a good brand or model to get proper integration?

Try this CoolMaster Net

There is integration in Home Assistant - https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/coolmaster/

It works perfectly. I tried it on one of my projects.

Thanks. Good to hear that this worked for you. My problem with such a solution is that it is another layer and another product. I can imagine that when you use this on an environment where there are many brands and/or older models that only do IR that this brings simplicity in a complex environment. For that it sound great. To me, I still have the freedom to choose anything and adding this intermediate level just increases cost, maintenance and complexity. So, I’d rather go for something that allows native control through home assistant.

My installer proposes Haier, but I cannot any production ready implementation on that (although it comes with a WiFi extender). I’ve been looking at LG (Though SmartThinQ) and I see there is a Daikin implementation also.

Again, I would really like hear about experiences and ideas about that.

Ok, I get it. I think you can use this integration for your purpose - Mitsubishi air conditioners - https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/melcloud/. In this case, you may need to buy a Wi-Fi module for the air conditioner.
