Integration with Ceiling Fan with RF Remote Frequency: 2410 Mhz 2420 Mhz 2425 Mhz

I have a couple Monte Carlo Maverick Fans, and struggling to find a solution to integrate them into HA. They operate on 2410 Mhz 2420 Mhz 2425 Mhz, and unfortunately the Bond Bridge, and other RF solutions don’t support these frequencies.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can make my dumb fans smart?

Same here. I’ve been searching for any/all possible solutions. Recently found this article (see below) but can’t seem to locate a 2400 Mhz RF Transmitter and Receiver. I’m not sure if it’s unique to their DC motor or not.

Reverse Engineer RF Remote Control for IOT

Thanks for sharing this, Mike. I actually recently contacted Monte Carlo direct to see if any of their other receivers could potentially work as a workaround to support a more common frequency of 433Mhz. They did say that it is because it is a DC operated fan, they can not guarantee if the receiver will be able to generate enough power to the unit.

Are you also using a Maverick? They suggested they have a Smart Fan that’s similar to the Maverick called the Collins (Also a DC fan), and was thinking about making an attempt to buy their receiver / remote to see if it wold work.

Yeah I have a new home and ended up placing (8) Monte Carlo Mavericks fans in each room because of the style and efficiency with the DC motor. Tried being creative on a solution by going to this site:
www.szyet.com and purchasing an RF to Wi-Fi converter that supports the copying of any RF remote and comes with an app that sends signal to the cloud. It fell short because I couldn’t get the device to connect to my NetGear Orbi Mesh router.

Let me know if you happen to find any other solution. This has to be solvable.

Thanks for the resource, I’ll look into this. Will definitely let you know if/when I identify a solution.

I’m interested in any solutions as well. I just bought a new house with 3 Maverick II fans (Model #3MAVR52XXXXX). There’s got to be an ESPHome solution for all of us to discover and hack at, right ?!:crazy_face:

Either way, I’m still getting a Bond Bridge for my Somfy roller shades (12 total) and another Monte Carlo fan that is supported.

I’m still stuck! Just bought a Bond Bridge for my non Maverick Fans. Thought maybe a smart fan switch might be the solution, but all I could find only supports AC fans, & not DC.

@GoodyGizmos is the Monte Carlo fan that’s supported the Collins model?

From Googling the Collins fan, it’s definitely a different model. Here’s the FCC search I did - Supported Devices | Bond.

@skrilla any luck with the Collin’s receiver? I ended up getting a smart light switch (Leviton Decora Smart Switch) to control the fan’s on/off.

@grchan I decided not to purchase the Collins receiver after speaking with the Monte Carlo support team. They seemed convinced it would not work.

Are you just using the regular Leviton lightswitch? Or the one designed for fans? Decora Smart 4 Speed Fan Controller

Wondering if this fan switch would be compatible with a DC motor.

I decided to do another search on this topic and came across this device from Letkia. Considering picking this up and trying it out for my one of my Monte Carlo Mavericks fans.

@mike.aumiller thanks for sharing this find. Curious if you pulled the trigger ?

Did you end up buying this module? Do you know if it is ESP-based?

Sorry to revive such an old thread. I was curious: Did anyone find a solution to controlling their Monte Carlo Maverick Fan via anything other than the remote it came with?

I wanted to ask here first before I tried to invent my own solution. I’m sure one (of several possible hacky solutions) could involve a Rube Goldbergian contraption that maybe shorts/presses the buttons on the existing remote. Or maybe reverse engineering the current controller and reproducing the impulses/voltages somehow with your old controller.

Not the most elegant solution, but I ended up automating my Maverick by having the fan connected to a central switch for On/Off + Switchbot. No control of fan speed, but I mostly use the Medium or 3rd speed setting, and can at least understand the fan’s State.

Unfortunately, there’s just no way to mimic the IR frequency, and have tried with my Bond Bridge to no avail.

Ok thanks @skrilla! That’s a consideration, too (some kind of basic power switch/controller might work in a pinch).

Have you (or anyone else) happened to find a way to easily replace the remote? It seems very hard to find. I got a saved search on eBay since it has apparently been sold there before but not sure if there’s a reliable supply.

Why I ask: I actually just took apart the remote and it seems trivial to short the buttons to trigger the appropriate RF signal. Would require some soldering, software and etc to properly maintain state and all so that’d be an interesting project. I figured if I wanted to turn that into a project, I’d want an extra remote or two not only for backup but for convenience when actually in the room using it and not wanting to use voice or other smart home control per se.

Edit: You can get the part from them directly by calling 1-800-969-3347. I see the part for my fan listed online at “Light Trends”, so that’s another option maybe.
