First write usb device? How to install to the hard disk?

Choose usb device boot, it will automatically write to my hard drive? Then automatically shut down, manually start choosing my hard drive?

My steps to success for Hass.io on Intel NUC

I struggled with this as it does not seem well documented so here is what I did to get it to work after a day and six failed attempts: Hardware: Intel NUC Kit-DN2820FYKH (Circa 2013) 16GB USB Thumb Drive 60GB Patriot SSD EDIT May 2020. Just installed NUC version on HP Z220S, very zippy compared to PI 3+.

Writing to USB stick, then inserting in target system expecting a startup/install phase to internal disk/ssd, does NOT work.

Using Etcher to write to (future) internal disk/ssd and then install disk/ssd in target system does work !
