Intel X540-T2 10G network card - HA doesn't see it, help needed

Hi All,

I am upgrading all my network cards to 10Gb and Home Assistant is the last one.

I’m running the latest HAOS on a Dell Optiplex 5050.

i have tested the hardware with an install of windows so can confirm all components are working.

However, when I install HAOS, only the onborad 1Gb NIC is working.

Is there anything else I can do, BIOS, config etc…?

Genunely stuck on this one and there seems to be almost no threads on it.

10G network cards is a pretty new thing and probably need a specific driver.

A bit of workaround; I’m running HA as VM on ESXi 8 and then connecting it to virtual swith that uses ESXi supported (also Intel) 10Gb NIC. Works perfectly. Especially pleased with re-routing network traffic to remote MariaDB instance on my NAS - made quite a difference for larger queries (like History dashboard). So perhaps having quite powerful HW you should consider similar approach, instead of bare metal installation?

New to HA or new in general?

I’ve been using 10G for years domestically so a little unsure about your comment

cheers for the reply but architecturally, that is a completely different route than I am taking.

I meant new “mainstream”-wise.
I know the 10G standard have around 15 years on the back for the earliest products, but it is first in the recent 3-4 years you have begun to see it in the actual computers and in consumer network products.
Before that it was mainly a enterprise network backbone thing.
