Interesting move by Ubuiqiti - Superlink

Ubuiqiti moving into Home/Commercial automation

Introducing: SuperLink

I’m sold by the quality of their other equipment. With their access points everywhere and this claimed range, It could be interesting. Do any of their existing sensors work through their integrations with HA?

Very interesting, and I wonder if it’s a form of z-wave that they’re using for communication (based on their range claims). I can’t wait to see them abandon this for some new thing and leave everyone hanging (like they do so often). If it was an open protocol and common hardware, maybe… (also, that leak sensor looked like the size of a roomba).

I immediately thought of standards when saw they came up with SuperLink

It’s using BLE. but beyond that It probably uses proprietary software. I really like ubiquiti stuff. It’s super reliable and just works.

All the latest access points from ubiquiti already have the BLE to WiFi relay technology so you don’t need that little gateway box if you have a recent access point.

There is one sensor product that is already released so I got a few to test them out.

It’s a lot of sensors in one package and it should work with the existing UniFi Protect plug-in for HA.

I think they’re trying to pack too much into a single device. That device isn’t that tiny; I have very small door sensors, leak sensors and temp/humidity sensors - each specific to their purpose and they work very well (zigbee). We’ll see how well these things do - but I don’t see BLE taking over zigbee or zwave (not to mention with a ton of those things all on BLE and their limited sensor range for presence, RIP your 2.4 wifi).

I would like to know if they can be integrated into HA.
