Internet problem with Home Assistant

Hello, greetings to everyone from Paraguay.

I’m new to Home Assistant; This week I started to discover this powerful home automation tool and I am very surprised and fascinated with it, but I have a problem; When I have my Home Assistant system active, my internet connection begins to slow down until there comes a time when I have no internet connection, I have to restart my router and everything works again.

This happens even faster when I connect my Nabu Casa account to the Home Assistant Cloud;

I have already performed several system reinstallations, on a local Ihost that I have and also on a Windows computer using VirtualVox.

Would anyone have any idea what may be happening and if there is a way to fix it?

We need to know, what kind of internet connection you have. Technology and down/up speeds?

My internet connection is through fiber optics, I have a Huawei brand GPON router. The download speed is 300 Mbps and upload speed is 30 Mbps.

This very likely has nothing to do with home assistant. Probably it is some problem with your isp. Try to contact them first and explain them what is going on, you loosing internet connection that is restored after router restart.

I ran several tests and it all starts when I start my home assistant, in the iHost docker or in the virtualbox. If I keep the home assistant off I don’t have connection problems.

Is it a clean install or did you install addons or integrations. What installation type of Home Assistant did you use?

I would start by disabeling all addons and integrations and see it it is still there. If now, then start to enable them one by one, monitoring the situation.

This is what I am going to do right now; I will start a new installation with virtualbox and start monitoring each addon and integration that I install.

If you installed HACS I’d start with disabeling that. Not that I think there’s something wrong with it, but when installed the first time, it queries many github reposotories. Once that is done things settle, but it is a whole lot.

Glances can monitor network usage per containers. At least my can. I doubt it is home assistant. When i installed codeproject ai container it pulled around 4 GB but I didnt saw any internet speed problems.

Hello,

Any solution to this problem? the same thing is happening to me. I have installed HA in VMware on Windows and later on a minipc on proxmox. In both cases with the same problem

Most likely an issue with your ISP. start changing DNS of Tigo/Personal to Google or Cloudflare
