✨ Bring the Google Home app experience (Material Expressive 3) directly into Home Assistant

Hello everyone! :house:

Many of you have been looking for a way to combine the power and flexibility of Home Assistant with the clean, intuitive, and modern interface of the Google Home app.

It is from this very idea that Material Home Assistant was born—a suite of custom cards and dialogs that implement Material Expressive 3 design principles to deliver a cohesive, elegant, and fully responsive dashboard. It is optimized for any device: from smartphones and wall-mounted tablets to full-sized PC screens.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the brand-new version v3.0.0, now managed through our new official integration! To ensure the long-term sustainability of the project, the ecosystem is now split into three tiers: Free, Pro, and Ultimate.

:warning: IMPORTANT FOR THOSE UPDATING: If you are migrating from previous versions or want to activate a Premium tier, it is mandatory to completely remove the free version of the cards before installing the paid integration.

Keeping both versions installed simultaneously will cause layout conflicts or prevent modules from loading properly.

Starting from version 3.0.0, managing the entire ecosystem has become incredibly straightforward:

  1. :magic_wand: Configuration Wizard: A graphical assistant built right into the Home Assistant UI that guides you step-by-step through activating your license token, checking dependencies, and handling the automated installation.

  2. :counterclockwise_arrows_button: Automatic Resource Management: Say goodbye to manually adding Lovelace resources in your dashboard panel; the integration injects and manages everything behind the scenes.

  3. :high_voltage: Instant, Automated Updates: Through the official integration, all component updates are handled instantly and automatically, ensuring you always have the latest features and fixes without lifting a finger.

:e_mail: Important Registration Note: When purchasing a plan or configuring your license on the website, please make sure to use a valid and real email address. This is absolutely critical for managing your account, keeping track of subscriptions, and securely receiving your personal access token.

:warning: Note for existing users: If you are currently using the older, free standalone version of the cards, you must completely remove the free version before setting up the token integration to prevent browser-side script conflicts and ensure all Pro/Ultimate features load properly.

Have you thought of adding dehumidifier/humidifier support to the climate card?

materialhomeassistant.com doesn’t work anymore. I can’t access the documentation or any other page. I wonder if is this abandoned?

The project is definitely not abandoned, quite the opposite!

We recently migrated our documentation and infrastructure to a new dedicated cluster to significantly improve performance, stability, and loading speeds. During this transition, some temporary routing or caching issues may have caused the site or pages to appear unreachable.

Development is actively ongoing: the component receives silent, automatic updates every 6/7 days. You can always track our latest releases and progress directly on our GitHub tracking issue here:

Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

We are thrilled to announce a new update for the Material Home Assistant ecosystem! This release brings tight bidirectional synchronization between the frontend Lovelace components and the integration, brand identity improvements, new blueprints, and essential stability fixes.

:package: What’s New?

:puzzle_piece: Material Home Assistant Integration (v1.0.5)

  • Card Version Tracking & Sensor:
    • Introduced a dedicated sensor entity (sensor.material_home_assistant_card_version) that tracks the currently installed and running version of the Lovelace cards.
    • Added the action/service material_home_assistant.report_card_version to handle version reporting smoothly.
  • Persistent Update Notifications:
    • Whenever your frontend card is updated to a newer version, the integration detects the change and creates a persistent Home Assistant notification, complete with direct links to view the release changelog and documentation.
  • Localization & Multilingual Support:
    • Notification titles and messages adapt to your Home Assistant system language (English and Italian included, with automatic fallback to English).
  • Brand Assets & Local Icons:
    • Fully aligned with Home Assistant 2026 local brand asset standards (brand/icon.png, brand/[email protected], and high-res logos) for native display in Devices & Services.
  • Automations & Blueprints:
    • Added the new Zigbee Controller blueprint.
    • Enhanced and optimized the Battery Notification blueprint.

:artist_palette: Lovelace Material Components Pro (v3.1.56) (Currently Rolling Out Automatically)

  • Automatic Roll-out:
    • The frontend component updates automatically in the background—no manual download is required! The rollout is currently underway and will reach all instances shortly.
  • Automatic Version Reporting:
    • Frontend cards now report their active release version to the integration automatically upon loading and dashboard refresh.
  • Graceful Service Detection & Zero-Spam Guard:
    • Included safe checks for registered services: if your frontend card is updated before your integration, it will silently wait for the integration update without throwing missing-action toast errors on your screen.
  • Performance & Theme Polishing:
    • General refinements following Material 3 Expressive guidelines.

:gear: How to Update

  1. Update the Integration via HACS:
    • Open HACS in your Home Assistant instance.
    • Update Material Home Assistant integration to v1.0.5.
  2. Restart Home Assistant:
    • Restart Home Assistant (or reload the integration) to register the new services and sensors.
  3. Frontend Component (v3.1.56):
    • Handled automatically! Once the release reaches your instance, a simple browser refresh (Ctrl + F5 or clearing cache on mobile) will load the updated bundle.
