I’d love to hear what other Apple Health metrics or Home Assistant integrations people would like to see next.
Your app looks very promising, but requiring a subscription just to sync my health data with Home Assistant? That’s a dealbreaker for me.
I’d be happy to make a one-time purchase, but I’m not willing to pay a monthly subscription solely to integrate my health data into Home Assistant.
It would be nice to create my own health dashboard, but honestly, it’s not important enough (I think for most other users as well) to justify a subscription.
If I understand the technology correctly, the app on an iPhone is needed to transmit the health out of Apple’s walled garden and into HA. I also understand that Apple is squeezing small and open-source developers with fees even giving away stuff through their App Store. It’s not unreasonable to charge a one-time fee to cover the download charges from Apple, but I agree on the subscription charge being a deal-breaker.
With that said, I’m not a potential customer of this app because I don’t use HA’s dashboards for anything…
Got it all setup and working great. Unfortunately it’s displaying metric (KG, KM) instead of imperial (LB, MI) etc. Can’t use it until that’s an option. Not sure if it’s using Fahrenheit or Celcius. Willing to pay but not until that’s added.
inside home assistant you can adjust all metrics to suite you
If you are finding certain metrics dont have units or have incorrect units please let me know, with it syncing over 75 metrics and my apple watch being a few generations behind its a lot to keep track of
The major difference is its syncing ability. My app can sync throughout the day with a target of every 30 minutes, with your iPhone locked. There’s rarely a need to open the app once it’s been set up.
This then allows you to do prompt automations based on this data.
There are also improvements to the setup process, streamlining this for the less technical users
I regularly get requests for a free option so here it is!
Simple tap to sync your apple health data to home assistant. With an optional subscription to automate background syncs through the day, even when your phone is locked!
Health Assistant now adds UV Index and Time in Daylight support for everyone, plus new Pro features like custom metrics and updating some Apple Health values automatically.
One interesting thing I discovered while working on this update, Apple Health supports UV Exposure, but for most people it stays at 0 all day because nothing updates it
Health Assistant Pro can now keep that value updated throughout the day using your local UV conditions, then sync it through to Home Assistant like normal.
I know subscriptions aren’t always popular, but features like reliable frequent background syncing and the new weather API-powered updates have real ongoing costs behind them. The goal is simply to keep the app sustainable, private, and ad free, while still keeping the core Apple Health to Home Assistant tap to sync experience available for everyone.
