Do I need to have custom_components folder with ios.py and notify_ios.py files?
The notifications on iphone work fine, the only thing is the battery status is not updated. Is it related?
You should not need any custom components for IOS.
Do you know what affect battery status updates?
You need to enable location tracking. Set track = true in known devices file
