IP44 Switch / Plug for high humidity

Hi all,

I have following use case for which in do not really have an implementation idea, perhaps someone has already a similar stuff:

  • cellar with humidity >>90% (vaulted cellar)
  • wlan available via ip44 outdoor ap
  • now I would like to add a fan to lower humidity
  • fan has 230v
  • fan is connected via some meter pipe into the middle of the cellar to get the humidity from there
  • I already have a Shelly humidity sensor running there (also in the middle of the room)

Question: I would like to switch fan on and of depending on the sensor values of the Shelly. What will be the best way to switch the fan on and if? A Shelly plug s in a IP44 Box? A Shelly pro 1 or similar in a ip44 box? A Shelly pro 1 in the central fuse box - would only be an option if the switch is silent, …. Any other ideas?

Thanks
Rüdiger

You could also extend the power cable and place the smart switch outside the room.

I would just use a smart relay in a IP44 box in the area you need if there is no wall switch you can swap out with a smart wall switch.

What do you get from IP44 protection in your case? It’s not going to lower constant humidity anyhow, it’s only protecting from water jets. Either wire your Shelly to less humid atmosphere or trust that it’s gonna work ok at >90RH.
