I have been using google_maps as a device tracker for a few weeks now and it has been good. When I would share my location from a device to the google account listed in my configuration, the device would immediately show up in Home Assistant. This no longer seems to work…I can still see the location of the main account in my configuration, but every other device I share with that account no longer works. Is anyone else having this issue? I know there were recent google maps updates, I was wondering if it was because of this.
any chance this is related to the new chargeable service that google put in place since 16th July?
same issue here. Any ideas?
I’m guessing this might be it. Looking around I see this:
Important: Enable Billing
As of July 16, 2018, to continue to use the Google Maps Platform APIs, you must enable billing on each of your projects. If you choose not to add a billing account, your maps will be degraded, or other Maps API requests will return an error.
So I was able to revert back to .73.1 and it seems to be working again.
Oh that’s interesting… Out of interest did you find anything else in the logs
Bugger. I thought I was doing something wrong.
For the record, mine is working again as at 0.74. Yay.
I’ve also updated to the latest version and it works for a time, then stops. Then starts again. I am not sure why it does this.
Stopped working for about 5 days, now working again after update to 74.2 from 74
