Hi, is it just me or does others still have issues getting location sharing working? I’m on Hassio 0.82 now and it seems like this component is still broken.

Same here, I tried adding it just before everyone started to report it as broken and it has never ever worked for me.
Which is a real shame as it would have massive WAF (wife acceptance factor)… 
I was able to get it working using 0.77.2. I recently updated to 0.81.6 and it’s still working.
Really? Wow, it’s been broken since 0.79.3 for me. 
Did you do anything special to get it going?
It’s been a while, so I don’t remember all the details. I do recall getting the .google_maps_location_sharing.cookies file created was challenging, and it took multiple restarts, but eventually it started working and it’s been working ever since.
Regarding the Google account, I was never able to get it to work with 2-Step Verification turned on. In theory work was done to make that work, but I never succeeded in using it, although to be fair, I haven’t tried for a while. I was planning to eventually try again, but haven’t gotten around to it.
Also, I had to turn on “Allow less secure apps.” I think I did try using an App password at one point (which I think is only available if 2-Step Verification is turned on), but that didn’t work either.
Bottom line, since it appears to only work with an account with 2-Step Verification turned off, and with allow less secure apps turned on (at least, as I said, that’s the only way I was able to make it work a while ago), you probably don’t want to use an existing Google account, but rather create one just for this purpose. Kind of sucks because then you have to get people to share their location with yet another account. .
