Is Homeassistant a one hit wonder?

Hei Guys,
following weird problem happens over and over again.

I downloaded the current 64Bit Image 2021.1.5 for Raspberry Pi. I got a RPi 4 with 2GB Ram and a class3 SD-Card ( the standard Rpi one).

I plugged everthing in and just waited at least 30 minutes. Then I accessed the web UI and created first user. Because of my bad experiences in the past days with similar programms I did neither install add-ons or updates ( non are available) nor set up any configuration. I restarted the Raspberry Pi via the supervisor dashboard. --> The host is not accesssible anymore. Neither pinable nor via UI. This is killing my fun because it happened several times. Are there any suggestions. I’m steps seconds from throwing all away.

Hope anyone can help.

Manuel

Did DHCP allocate a different IP address? Download Fing to check the address.

NO, Fingig (Pinging) doesn’t even show the HA RPi and it does not connect to network anymore ( no lights are flackering)

It could be a number of things causing your problem, but restarting (powering off and back on) the machine should fix it (If the problem persists, I’d recommend the solution I provided below). This was happening to me on a regular basis in the past — which I later attributed to the database or recorder integration.

I ended up setting up an external MySQL database as outlined in the Custom Database Engines documentation, and I haven’t had the problem since (now it has been over a month with no issues).

Hope this helps!

My 2 cents: Having a reliable power supply (currently I use rpi4 official supply) and sd card (such as SanDisk max endurance) solved nearly all problems of this type (host crashes randomly or becomes unavailable after reboot) I had. Otherwise the system should be very stable.

I’ve had a couple issues on my Pi where a restart never came back and have had to pull the power and plug it back in.

If no lights are flickering, I suspect the power supply. Pull the power cord and plug it back in.

I think that was addicted to an Sd-Card failure. I bought a new SanDisk LongLife SD Card and now it’s working without problems. Even Restart is working properly.

Thanks Guys
