Is it possible to use HA as NVR with Frigate with Amcrest Smart Home cameras?

Amazon Prime is having some good deals/sales and I’m torn between Reolink and Amcrest.

I currently have Eufy and hate it.

Amcrest is easier for me cause I won’t have to run new power wire and can use the micro USB that is already there.

But HA seems to have better support for Reolink than Amcrest?

I haven’t connected my Eufy ones to HA so I don’t know how it works. But I want HA to do the recording when there is motion/sound and alert me.

Will all that be possible with HA and Amcrest or am I better of with Reolink?

Onvif works very well with Amcrest/Dahua.

You get the full and sub streams as cameras and binary sensors for movement / object detection (one sensor per camera, not separate). The snapshot service works. It can take a few seconds for the main camera stream to load.

I use Scrypted as an NVR on an Intel N100 box which helps with camera video loading times as the streams are “pre-buffered”.

Frigate works with any camera that has RTSP stream

I use amcrest with no issue

Amcrest has HA integration but i dont use it. I think reolink is popular due to price but i prefer amcrest nonWiFi models. I would never buy amcrest wifi model.
