Is the Homebridge Integration Still Viable

I’ve spent three days trying all sorts of ways to get HomeKit to interface with my docker home-assistant image on macOS without success. I currently have homebridge set up to link HomeKit to my SmartThings hub. I don’t have any configured devices exposed to HomeKit since I run almost everything through automations. I do, however have scenes set up on home-sssistant that are the duplicate of ones on HomeKit. The HomeKit version allows me to use Siri to control it. In the interest of DRY, I could set up a software switch in SmartThings that would be tested by home-assistant to accuate the scene. Rather than go through an extra device, I’d like to set up homebridge on home-assistant. Given that the integration is deprecated, my question is:

Are people still using the homebridge integration and will it be stay around?
