Is the Nest thermostat a good deal?

Our local utility is offering the Nest Learning thermostat for $79 or the Nest Thermostat E for $39. I am pretty satisfied with my Honeywell thermostats, but I can’t control them from Home Assistant.
(They are also offering the Honeywell Lyric T5 and Ecobee3 and Ecobee4 for less.)

So, any ideas? By them, skip the offer, or?

I tested the Lyric and was very disappointed. It didn’t measure up to my 1st Gen Nest and I put the Nest back. I recently upgraded to the current Nest to get the remote temp sensor support.

What model is the current nest? And, would you recommend buying at these prices?

Gen 3 is the current release and even the Black Friday price is $179, so $79 sounds like a heck of a deal.
