Is there a way to capture the amount of data used each day by a mobile device?

Having problems with kids data usage. Somehow chrome used 1gb today. No youtube etc.

Because Android only gives you a warning and a hard stop over the whole month it doesn’t really help.

In the device settings I see

but what are these numbers in relation to?
it doesn’t match the daily or the monthly number in Android settings.

Ideally I want an automation that gives a notification whenever usage exceeds say 200mb in one day, then every 100mb further that day.

Can’t answer what those totals relate to, but a utility meter helper should get you what you’re after and make writing an automation pretty easy.

Thanks. Do you know what app rx is, as opposed to the other more Self evident rx sensors

Unfortunately no, I’d have to dig into the docs. I’ve never used any of them.

It appears that those Traffic Stats Sensors are reset at the device reboot, so it’s based on how long the phone has been on (a very long time for me coming to a whopping 84+GB Total Rx XD). Sensors | Home Assistant Companion Docs

The App Data Sensors are only tracking the data for the Home Assistant app since the last reboot. Sensors | Home Assistant Companion Docs

Thanks, those docs are useful. I’ll see if I can get some data out of this.

I’m guessing there’s different levels of support. For example, my watch does not show the correct charging state. my phone does not show sim1 and 2.
