Hello,
I have two Aqara FP1Es for room presence detection, and they work completely fine during the day, even when I am not moving that much, they still keep the lights on. But when I am sleeping, the sensors (even have one above my bed on the angled roof wall behind me) only detect me very inconsistently…
Is there a way (better placement, settings, …) to get them to detect me while sleeping?
Hi, not an answer but more asking… how (!) did you get them to be reliable? With me they cannot even detect me in the chair when I am sitting about 80cm away from them in front.
How are you getting them into HA?
I first tried ZHA, but with that they acted like traditional PIR sensors (so no static, non-moving detection, just movement) until I switched to Zigbee2MQTT and it works fine now except for when I am sleeping (with relatively thick covers, which may be the issue that keeps it from detecting…).
Did you install a custom quirk? I did and it has worked out great for me. The custom quirk I used just recently became a part of HA with 2024.12 so there is now support out of the box in ZHA as well.
I only have Z2M and it does a lot of things right, zone, left>right or vv ,etc.
But… I acquired this rather expensive stuff to detect me without (!) moving and this ‘sucks’…see the 80 (or less) cm tests I did.
Possibly I have some initial devices with poor components/firmware/??
Just wanted to know if you have done something ‘special’ to make them reliable
