Very often, my “Away” automation will trigger because Home Assistant thinks I 'm away.
Here is a picture from today showing me constantly being away even though I never left the house during this time:
And this is my home zone with a very rough estimate of where my property is:
I made the home zone way bigger than it should be, but it still hasn’t solved the problem.
Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot or solve this?
Awesome, maybe that’s it. I had an old phone still configured to track me, so maybe that was causing issues.

Unfortunately it is still happening. Any other ideas?
can you check the apps device tracker entity to see if its showing the correct data?
What should I be checking exactly? Something inside the companion app settings?
It mostly does work. When I actually leave home or come back it triggers correctly. Just when I’m staying at home it messes up.
the device tracker entity and not the person entity as the app does not control the person but the tracker entity directly
Sorry for the late response.
As far as I can tell, it is setup correctly and experiencing the same behavior:
ok next step is to look at location history in the app to see if those are valid location reports or not.
settings > companion app > troubleshooting > location history
you can click on the map icon for each entry that lines up with the incorrect tracker position to see where the app actually had you at.

So for example, I see in the middle of last night it reported my location as in the intersection down the road from me. Definitely not right.
And the accuracy says 135.
Is this purely an issue with my phone’s GPS then?
or googles fused locaton tracker has incorrect data…either way the app got a report that looked valid.

I’ve decreased the accuracy number to 95 from 200. Most of the correct locations I see reported have values below 100, so I’ll see if that works.
