Is this Cheap Android too cheap for a dashboard?

Hi All,

I’ve got one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DBZG8R55?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 cheap Android tablets and thought about using it for a Home Assistant Dashboard on the wall.

However I’m finding that it gets very unresponsive even with what I would think is a fairly simple dashboard. I’ve not really started trying to diagnose what is wrong, as I first thought I would see if anyone has any experience. It may be that it is just nowhere near up to the job so it’s not worth wasting time to get it going.

Specs as far as I can tell:
RAM: 3GB+7GB achieved through expansion technology (whatever that means!)
OctaCore 2GHz ( Cortex A55 possibly?)
1280x800 10" Display
Android 14

Thanks
Stephen

There is the answer to your question, when its not very responsive and has issues with the dashboard setup you want to use with it then you will want to get something better in its place for your needs.

I’ve only tried it for about 20 minutes, so it could be that there is a configuration/setup issue rather than it just being fundamentally unsuitable. I was hoping that someone else may have tried this device or something similar and could share their experience.

Thanks
Stephen
