I run HA in Docker (together with other servers on my server PC) so can’t follow the multitude of Hassio add-on guides , not an option before you suggest

Seems fine. I haven’t touched my HA nginx configuration in years…
… and you followed that guide?
but of course you’d have had to update your certs , letsencrypt etc … is time bound

No, I didn’t, but I meant that nothing has changed in HA that would imply that the guide would be obsolete.
