Is this the right system for me?

Hi all! Sorry but this is going to be a very noob like post and it will probably drive some of you nuts. I looked a beginner category to post this in but couldn’t find one.

What I have so far:
Hue bridge with roughly 30 bulbs
3 wemo switches including the wemo dimmer
2 wemo plugs
Ecobee 3 thermostat with three remote sensors.
Nexx garage door controller
2 amazon cloud cams
Two bigger Alexa’s, three dots and a kindle fire with hands free Alexa docked at my bedside
What I’m looking for is a nice looking, elegant dashboard to control them all. I have zero programming skills but with YouTube and google university I’m willing to attempt to learn. So my question to you all is this the program/dashboard/app I’m looking for?

“beauty is in the eye of the beholder”…

That said I think that the default frontend UI on Home Assistant looks OK to me. But if it’s not there are several ways to theme it to your desires…and abilities.

You WILL have to learn some programming to use anything related to HA. There is almost no GUI to add components so it all has to be done manually (some can be discovered and setup automatically but not many).

There is a, basically, plug & play version of HA called Hassio but that just helps with the installation and some add-on stuff that minimizes some configuration.

The beauty of it (again in the eye of the beholder  ) is that it will run on a cheap Raspberry Pi so it sounds like you’ve got the expensive part already covered.

So, for around $50 for RPi, case, SD card & power supply you could try it out and if you don’t care for it you can always re-purpose the RPi to some other useful thing - like a media server or something.

The community here is generally great in helping others so it’s a good resource. Be careful of outdated youtube video’s and Google U results. It’s a good starting point but the way things evolve they may not always be accurate any longer.

Good luck!

Yes. Wemo leave you with little options in terms of commercially available products like smarthings.

Other alternative are actually more complicated to use.

Just keep things simple and you will be OK.
