I’m looking to control home ventilation via one of our bathroom fans but I can’t seem to find a switch that is both controllable and works manually via a countdown timer. Anyone have a recommendation handy?
TIA

I don’t think anyone makes something like that, to be honest. At least not one that I have ever seen. You might be able to use something like an Aurora and some complicated logic to do something like it, but I’m not sure that is even really feasible.
The easiest solution is to get a Z-Wave (or Zigbee) fan controller switch and wire that inline and then use an automation to turn off the fan after x minutes.
bummer. that seems complicated… maybe i’ll just install a separate exhaust fan on a simple toggle switch or an second inline fan. looks like a product idea to me
For sure it does. I’d actually buy a few if they had both a Zigbee (or Z-Wave) radio (or better, WiFi) along with a manual timer built in. That would be AWESOME for so many applications. I’ve thought about doing it using an Aurora and maybe some TTS feedback (turn the knob and have HA announce “Fan set for x number of minutes” or something) or perhaps building something on my own.
