Issue with Ring Doorbell “Ding” Not Updating on Multiple Presses (Ring Cloud Integration)

Hello everyone,

I’m currently using the Ring Cloud integration with Home Assistant, and I’m having an issue with my Ring Doorbell that I can’t seem to solve. The problem is with the “Ding” sensor not updating every time someone presses the doorbell button.

Specifically, when someone presses the doorbell multiple times, only the first press is registered by the “Ding” sensor, and subsequent presses don’t seem to trigger any update or get captured. This is frustrating because I’m trying to create an automation that can detect every press of the doorbell button.

Has anyone else experienced this with the Ring Cloud integration? Is there a way to ensure that the “Ding” state updates every time the button is pressed, even when it happens multiple times in quick succession?

Any solutions or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for your response and for providing a fix!
I went through your suggestion, but I’m having a bit of trouble fully understanding how to implement it. Would you mind providing a bit more detail or breaking it down step by step? Specifically, I’m not entirely sure how the solution addresses the issue of the “Ding” state not updating with each button press.

If you could explain further, or maybe provide an example (if possible), that would really help me to better grasp what I need to do.

Thanks again for your help!

This is a known issue that the developer is trying to fix for a future release. I do not know when that release will happen.

I really appreciate the time you took to help.
