I missed out on ordering a “Blue” so I just bought a standard ODroid N2+ and printed the 3D case provided at the bottom of the Blue announcement page. After printing, I found that a few issues with the design that I figured I’d raise here since I’m not sure anyone is looking at the comments on the Thingiverse page. This is mostly to serve as a heads up for anyone else interested in going this route though I’d obviously love for the issues to be addressed (I’ve done some basic 3D modeling but I’m not sure I have the expertise to remix the model myself)
- The screw size/type to secure the front and back plates to the cover was not specified. It looks pretty close to M3 (and it’s definitely not M2) but I’m not sure as when I tried an M3 it caused some cracks in my print.
- The cover can only be installed in the “Dev Mode” orientation (ie it cannot be installed in “Zen Mode”) as one of the cross supports on the inside of the cover hits the LAN and USB ports.
- The back plate does not have enough clearance for a few components so it cannot sit flush and I’m slightly concerned about longevity of increased pressure on those components.
- The 3.5mm jack has a bit of a square shape that protrudes slightly from the ODroid’s PCB that the circular hole alone does not account for
- The rectangular cut out next to the hole for the 3.5mm jack is not deep enough so the SPI Boot Select switch and microUSB connectors rub against it
- There is no clearance for the eMMC (which does protrude from the main PCB slightly) or for the microSD slot (which protrudes quite a bit from the PCB when used)
