Issues with Update to 2022.5.4 ... and creation of backups

Hi there, I know, this isn’t really a configuration topic, but maybe you have some ideas to help me with the current situation I am facing.

Today, the update to 2022.5.4 of Homeassistant.Core was available for my system.
As usual, I applied the update, with automatic backup creation.

After a short time, the popup window from Homeassistant with the Update progress did not show any actions and I closed it.

Then, I did a reboot of the system - and:
2022.5.3 seems to be the current version - but no updates are available anymore.

I also checked the Backups - and saw, that the last backup that has been created was the one with the update from 2022.5.1 to 2022.5.2

I don’t know, why the update hasn’t be applied and why no backup has been created… do you have some ideas where to start with this?
Thanks a lot

I’d start by doing the backup normally, not within the update. Trying to do both at once only makes troubleshooting harder. Backups are something you want to be sure of before proceeding.

I think HA only checks for updates once a day, so it’s possible that it hasn’t picked up 2022.5.4 yet.

Keep an eye on the logs, both for the backup and the update. At least this way you’ll have a better idea where the failure is happening. And have something you can post here if it happens again.

You can manually check:

it’s not finding a new version… and the system info still show 22.5.3

Refresh the browser’s web page.

no change, even after closing all browser windows and reopen them.
Also the Mobile app is showing the same information and a restart of the Core didn’t change anything.

Check your logs for errors, including the supervisor log.

You can update via the command line.

ha core update --version 2022.5.4

damn! stupid me!
Somehow, I hit “skip” instead of update…
