Kasa Switches Stopped Working

All my TP-Link Kasa switches stopped working with Home Assistant after the recent Kasa firmware upgrade.

When I try to re-add the switches, it asks for a username and password. When I provide the correct username and password from my Kasa account, I get the following error:

Unable to authenticate: Device response did not match our challenge on ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, check that your e-mail and password (both case-sensitive) are correct.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

I ran into this and every time I drop power to them. Here is how I fix it:

1.) Open the Kasa app.
2.) Click on “Me” in the lower right corner.
3.) Go to “Settings” (under Widgets and above Kasa Lab)
4.) Turn off “Third-party Compatibility”. It will drop the rest of your devices.
5.) Wait a couple minutes
6.) Turn back on “Third-party Compatibility”.

Yes, they made a change on the Kasa end that this process re-does the authentication settings to your devices. Their standard answer was “we do not support Home Assistant”. Frustrating. You have to do this every time you drop power to a model 300 power strip. The EP25s do not seem to have this problem.

Add me to the list. I am trying the solution offered by kahilzinger but so far that has not done it for me.

Try waiting a little longer between turning it off and then turning it back on, again. KASA needs to fix it but I do not think they are motivated to do so.

I could not get the authentication to work still, however, I changed my password for my Kasa account and then set up both devices via the Kasa app and then I was able to add them back into HA by adding each device by setting them up using the IP address only and then it added them to HA again. They have survived a couple of HA reboots so I think they are ok unless they maybe lose power and then I may have to readd them again.

Definitely a pain and takes my opinion of TP-Link products down a notch!
