When I onboarded my new Kauf Smart plugs, I temporarily set my Wi-Fi Mesh AP to 2.4GHz. After successfully connecting them to Wi-Fi and HA, my Wi-Fi AP switches back to 5GHz.
I’m now seeing all my kauf plugs repeatedly showing unresponsive and reconnecting in their log books within HA. I’m thinking this is due to client steering on my Mesh network…
I couldn’t find any definitive documentation whether or not these plugs support 5GHz, my guess is no.
Has anyone experienced this and should I set up a dedicated 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for my iot devices?
Almost no (0) IOT devices support 5Ghz. Almost all are 2,4.
Also using a router set-up that auto switches 2.4 to 5 ends up in IOT devices intermittent or offline.
You need a 2,4 network to rule them all.
Since moving all my plugs to a dedicated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi access point, most of them seem stable. However a couple repeatedly show on / off or unplugged/plugged in log book. However when physically verifying, it’s a false positive. Anyone else experiencing this or have suggestions to resolve?
The plugs I have are Kauf PLF12.
