Keep my HA install on Raspberry Pi or move to Linux Mint?

Hi All,
I am fairly new to HA, but very new to Linux Mint.
I had a spare machine and wanted to experiment with Linux and Frigate etc and I was wondering if it was worth while moving my HA install to Linux (assuming it would have to be on a VM on that machine and allocate machine resources to it)
Am I opening myself up to problems? If so what?
Would I be able to access the add-on store ? I think I read somewhere that this might not be accessible on Linux?

Can someone recommend the best way forwards with this?

Cheers
Nick

What Raspberry Pi ? If you want to experiment with Frigate you can run the Frigate docker on Mint and connect to the HA on the Pi.

If you install HA OS in a VM, yes. If using HA Container, no

Thanks for the quick reply @francisp.

Its a Pi 400. What you suggests makes sense, I just wondered if it was worth not using the PI.

That’s a different question. Install type v install hardware.

Most people would recommend hardware other than the pi especially if you’re talking d64 compatible. (a NUC mini pc kicks the snot out of a pi price/performance wise…)

But most would also say don’t put Linux on it just use HAOS (or haos on Proxmox as VM)

If what I just said is complete nonsense to you. You have more reading to do.

HAOS is by far the easiest way for a novice to get started.

My idea: as long as you don’t run Frigate on the Pi400, it should run HA ok.
