Kindle as a display?

I’ve always wanted an e-paper display with my home data, and with HA this goal seems closer. However, to me, this seems still very far away.

Several months ago I’ve tried to get the website loaded on my Paperwhite V2. I had to disable some security stuff and could almost get it working. However, the website (i.e. host:8123) is heavily loaded with JS and not suited to the lightweight Kindle browser.

Then I had the idea to use Selenium or something similar to capture the screen. I almost got it working, I had to wait 30-40s for the page to be rendered on a headless Firefox on a Pi, but it almost worked. I forgot why I gave up, I think it was losing the authentication or something.

Basically, I would like to have either a “very light” or a “light” version of the UI. The “very light” one could be just a dashboard rendering to a PNG. This would get periodically read by a jailbroken Kindle. The “light” one would have a basic HTML page, or perhaps just an image map with actions, for turning lights on/off.

Did anyone succeed making something like this? Is there a project or plugin somewhere?
