Kiosk Mode Tablet - permanent charge or not?

Hello,

I have mounted two tablets on the wall, which are permanently powered on in kiosk mode.

I have been thinking about whether they should be permanently charged or not.

If the battery is at 100% (or at 85% on the Samsung tablet, where there is a setting for not fully charging to save the battery), then of course the tablet does not charge, even though it is connected to the power supply. But as soon as the battery charge drops by even 1%, charging starts.

I have now added smart sockets and set up automation: If the battery is below 10%, the socket is switched on; if the battery is above 84%, the socket is switched off. That works.

So now my questions: What makes more sense in terms of safety (fire risk) and battery life? Are there any other aspects to consider? How do you handle this if you use a tablet in kiosk mode?

Thanks for your input!

Best regards
Maike

PS: I had trouble finding the right category for my topic. Feel free to move it.

I have my tablets plugged into a controllable outlet and use the Wallpanel Battery Management blueprint to cycle it at 85% and 25%.

It is my understanding (or old belief stuck in my head) that rechargeable batters should cycle. But, not to max and min.

I had samsung tab A6 connected permanently to ps for at least 3 years. Now it is replaced with stronger lenovo, but it is still used by my wife for browsing and reading, without battery life issues.

Thank you for your feedback.
In the meantime I have also read that 20%-80% battery is good.
But it’s also nice to read that the permanent charging apparently didn’t do any harm.

I use the 20-80% rule with a power plug.

Unfortunately that’s not always the case.
