KNX hardware selection

Hi,

I’m going to build a new smart home setup, and as all the wiring has to be renewed I’m also looking at the options for wired switches, actors etc.
Looking at all the options, KNX is probably the best way to go as you can program all the components to work even if the central unit (Home Assistant for instance) is out of order.
But…why are those components so very expensive compared to other switches and sensors?
Or, maybe I’m just looking on the wrong sites?

I understand that the price of a Sonoff is very low, but a component with KNX that can do the same is 50 times more expensive…at least!

Maybe someone can tell me if looking in the wrong direction, or confirm this…

Cheers,
Leon

There are >150 manufactures for Knx devices, so you have a lot of options.
You don’t get eg. cheap switches that only work with pricey light bulbs of the same manufacturer and generation.
Some of the brands give massive discounts to professional electricians.
My opinion: Knx really works flawlessly and is here to stay. But I have never heard of Sonoff - maybe this is not a thing in my home country - so I can’t compare these things.

For a good price/value factor you can, for example, have a look at actuators from MDT or Switches from Lingg & Janke (both German).
