Hi,
I have been using home assistant (and love it) in docker for ~ 6 years now, 2 different houses and I don’t see improvement on High Availability.
It is the main reason why I don’t use any automation in home assistant and nothing critical (light, security, etc…) is driven by home assistant.
I can’t do update at night, I don’t want to wake up with no light or heating. And it is always a pain to do it during the days because I have a family and my free time is almost 0
and it really takes 10-15 mins to cold start and during that time nothing work (I try to update at least once a month to not fall behind)
So, I decided to go Kubernetes, after a lot of testing I finally get a blue green Argo rollout deployment working with home assistant.
When an update is available,
- Kubernetes start a second home assistant pod (no port)
- ensure everything start correctly
- do some validation
- If everything correct, move traffics over the new home assistant.
- Home assistant is unavailable for about 10 milli-second.
- Success
And then 2025.10 arrive and there a new ha_run.lock which stop the second pod to start…
I really feel like this is going backward …
Is there a plan to move forward ?
