Landis+Gyr E450 smart meter integration

My P1 Meter is running for more than 3 months now without any problems.

Hi!
Has anyone successfully tried a different device than the P1 Meter in the meantime? Maybe something ESP32 based? I do not really like the cloud features of HomeWizard.
I also have the E450 and I am based in Austria.

I ordered the P1 meter based on this thread but it does not work for me (based in CH). Like for you my supplier is stating that this is NOT a P1 port but M-bus slave DLMS and despite homeward telling me it would work it does not
anyone had another solution ? could not find anything for that meter :frowning:

Hi Ashmodai

I had the same Problem. You can write to the guys from P1 they refund it.

Cheers

Hi, I am using a rpi zero w with an optical reader from amazon. I am based in Burgenland, so the required setup might differ as each state has different requirements.

I have created an addon for homeassistant, which can also be used as a standalon version:

There is also another ESP32 solution, which I haven’t tested: GitHub - ungip/smartmeter-burgenland: Netz Burgenland Landis Gyr E450 Tasmota script ESP8266

Hey, followed your suggestion of getting P1 Meter from Home Wizard in Cyprus and it is not working for me yet. I think the port is disabled also i needed external power to powerup this dongle.

In my case the P1 port was disabled too by default, but I asked my power grid operator (NetzBurgenland here in Austria) to enable it. NetzBurgenland provides a form for this – then they activate the port and send you an encryption key.

So probably that’s the same in other regions and countries too. Go ask them, if they can activate your P1 port!

Hi, I think P1 port and Open HAN ports may look same - e.g. rj12 port with 6 pins - but their functions are different.

To my understanding, landis+gyr E450 meter is not having P1.

@iZork - i’m also in CY - did you check with EAC what kind of port is it? Most probably it’s Open HAN, using DLMS protocol. It might require to be first activated by EAC, if allowed, and they must provide also a pinout of the port, so that we can connect some dongle (probably usb to RS485) and be able to read the data programmatically.

BTW, did you also got a smart water meter? I my area they installed both the energy and water smart meters
