Hi guys
Im looking to add some ambient lighting into a ceiling void run (around 6m long). Im really struggling to find a product that can do what I want, can anyone suggest anything that ticks these boxes;
- Rope (not led strip)
- Be able to manage colour changing from HA
- Out of the box solution (i.e not WLED or something that needs additional PSUs or controllers)
- 6m long, or the ability to chain
- I dont mind if its wifi, hard wired or zigbee
My setup
- HA running off a raspberry, with a Zigbee dongle.
I have experimented with WLED, various led strips, and to be honest I just dont have the time (or patience) or confidence in long term stability. I got frustrated with wled strips as it took me forever to get them setup, and running anything close to 6m was a complete pain regards power… so I’d sooner buy an out of the box solution that I can hook up to HA, even if it costs more.
A few compromises;
- If nothing is available, ill just had to go with a warm ambient rope light. Anyone have any brand suggestions…that integrates with HA to allow dimming/on/of
- I note a lot of the rope lights come with these cheap tacky looking remote controls. If an out the box solution isnt possible, I would consider using something that uses a remote control, if the remote signals could be fired from HA. Anyone have experience doing this?
