I have a wierd issue regarding webostv.button
I have to touch (lift) Magic remote control to be able to send button specific commands
Only button comands that work without lifting/shaking are Volume upp/down, turn on/off and mute.
I have IPTV setup box connected to HDMI input and configured as Universal remote.
I get notification on the LG TV saying Please control with magic remote. If i just lift the remote up and then send the command it will work. Is anyone else having this issue.
Yup, I too have this exact issue.
Fwiw it looks like a webOS limitation rather than Home Assistant’s.
EDIT: Ah, it looks like you opened a GitHub issue which is gaining traction (https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/46446).
I’d like to breathe some new life back in this.
According to the github issue, this wasn’t happening when controlling the tv directly. I, however, am having the “please control with Magic Remote” message when sending a command to the tv. I tried taking the batteries out of the magic remote to see if it would work when the tv didn’t recognize the remote being active, but that didn’t work either.
Anyone out there find a solution to this? It’s unfortunate because I bought the LG specifically for this integration.
I actually hate the Magic Remote so I’d love to just un-pair it and use a regular universal remote and the Home Assistant.
