LG WebOS TV slow to change state to "on"

I have configured my LG TV in HA to use as the trigger to turn down the lights when the TV is turned on. The automation works fine but lags, there is a 15 to 20 sec lag after the TV is fully booted before its state changes to “on”.
Is this lag normal and is there a way to reduce it?
Thanks.

Maybe it is dependent on your TV. What is your TV model? I have an LG CX TV and state changes occur in less than a second. My TV is connected via ethernet but I don’t remember having lag when using wireless.

Buried in your settings on the TV is a function called QuickStart+. Do you have that turned on?

I have two LG TVs connected via Wi-Fi and they do take a couple of seconds to turn on but no longer than turning them on directly through the Google Home or LG apps.

Its a UF770V and is connected via ethernet. Turning off is registered immediately. Its the time delay after the TV is fully functional before it shows as on in HA that is the issue for me.

I dont see a Quickstart+, could you advise how to find it in Settings?
Thanks.

Looks like my model does not have Quickstart. The TV turns on quite quickly anyway but after it has turned on there is still a lag of 20secs before it shows as on in HA, that is the issue.

Turning mine on from the Hass UI is less than 5 seconds before it’s on and the source is registered. I just timed it.

I have a LG WebOS TV without the QuickStart+ feature and it takes 15-20 secs for it to update the state.
The state is not updated until the smart function is loaded on the TV, so when you can enter the apps, then the state will be updated.
There is currently no way to reduce it with just the LG WebOS TV interface.

You either have to hope for a firmware update to the TV, but it might not be possible to provide that feature at all, if the hardware in the TV is lacking needed capabilities or you will have to invest in a newer model born with the feature or lastly you can put a smartplug with metering on your TV and monitor that for a spike in the power usage.

Thanks Wally, that looks like the issue.

If you go with a smartplug with metering, then make sure that its updating its values fast or you will be at the same place with regards to delays.

I just turned on my LG Webos TV (with the remote) and it is reflected instantaneously in HA.

You might have a version with QuickStart+ and its enabled.

Yes i have done a long explore of the settings, and indeed that is the case.

Same here, even with Quickstart+
TV is connected via ethernet.
Turn the TV on, takes anywhere between 10-20 seconds to change state in HA, same with turning off.
Very rarely it is instant but most of the time there is lag.

Mine took 6 minutes when I press the power button and open Live TV, doesn’t matter via remote or HA. But when I press the Netflix or Disney+ button on the remote, HA registers the state change as soon the app is loaded.

Mine takes about 5 seconds to register. Wireless.

Mine takes 1-2 seconds, but I have very few apps loaded.
I have seen longer load times when an apps internet point is down and that affect the smart feature startup on the TV too.

Did anyone find a way around this? Mine has Quickstart+ OFF. Every state change is pretty instant, except the On state.
And no, it’s not the time it takes for apps to be usable. I have opened the menu and opened an app, and it loaded fully, and HA still hadn’t registered the TV as On.

I want an automation based on TV going on, but do not want it taking 15-20s longer than it should. :S

Same issue with my LG 65EG960V Version 04.26.35 (last one).
It takes 37 seconds to change in HA after turning on.
