Life360 not updating

I use Life360 on my phone and the wife’s phone to update our location in HA. Recently, my wife’s location won’t update in HA. She left the house 15 minutes ago but HA still shows her as “home”. If I open the Life360 app on my phone then HA will update her position to “away”.

Anyone else have this issue?

A few people have described this same behavior. But basically, it’s a function of the Life360 software (server & app.) HA’s Life360 integration simply polls the server every ten seconds to see if there is any new data. If the server is not getting updated, that’s again, a function of the Life360 software, not the HA integration.

Note that when you open the Life360 app, as best as I can tell, that triggers an update of the Members in the Life360 Circle. That’s why doing so also results in an update in HA, because that causes new data to be available on the server.

In a recent HA release a button was added for each Member. Pressing the button should request an update for that Member. I suppose you could create some sort of automation that updates a Member if their data gets too stale, but honestly, I believe that would kind of defeat Life360’s algorithms that minimize battery usage. Use at your own discretion.

The best thing to do, though, is to check Life360’s FAQs to see what can be done to maximize the Life360 app’s update responsiveness.
