Many light bulbs are rated for some amount of hours (e.g. 15000 hours). With many light bulbs, I have a feeling that they die or malfunction way before this amount of hours is reached.
I would like the ability for a “hours on” counter.
For light switches that turn on multiple bulbs, this may be not so easy to implement. And also you would need a way to tell the system that a bulb was replaced.
15000 hours is about 18 months. A lot of people haven’t had Home Assistant running that long!
Don’t forget to vote for your own feature request.
It’s actually more like 20 months, but that is only if they are on 24/7 which none of my bulbs are
I’ve had Home Assistant for approximately 2 years, since I abandoned OpenHAB.
There is this History Stats - Home Assistant but that only lasys as long as your database records. Long term stats may hold the info.
I know that this can probably be dug out from history, but that’s exactly why I created a feature. For this to be useful it needs to be accessible and there needs to be a way to reset the counter when you replace a bulb.
Also in the case when you have 5 spots turn on with 1 lightswitch, how do you count hours for each of those bulbs?
It’s not something I want really bad, I just thought it might be a nice feature
The vision perhaps needs to be wider. How many hours has my tractor been running? How many hours has my water pump done?
Not saying this is a bad idea, but why exclude minority sensors?
