Light status in HassIO

My wife uses the light switch again and again to switch off the light. When the light is turned back on, the HassIO will not recognize it and the last status (on or off) will still be displayed. Is there a solution for the status of the lamps to match?

thanks

Can you explain your setup?

I guess hardwired switch and “smart” bulb?

Depends what kind of lights they are.

Or train/trade-in the wife of course…

I found that if my lights are toggled at the wall switch the system does update the status correctly, but takes around a minute to do so (to change from unavailable to the correct state).
I’ve just told my wife that if she keeps on pressing the wall switch then she has to deal with the delay in the colour/brightness automation…

Yes my wife use the hardwired switch. I use MQTT with zigbee2mqtt on HassIO on a Pi.
Hassio does not recognize that the lamp is off or the device is unreachable. Also do not wait for a long time. So he does not ask the status of the devices regularly.

Is there a script that queries the status of the devices regularly?

Ah, I use Deconz so mine behaves differently.

I imagine you need to look into Retain flags, The Hookup had a good video, but am in work so can’t link it.

There is for Tasmota… you want to get the Tele message but if it’s offline then that won’t be available.

Its turn off over the wall switch, hardwired no plug (Tasmota)
